Folk och Rackare was one of the most influential groups in Swedish folk music during the '70s and '80s. With intricate vocal harmonies and a mix of electric and acoustic arrangements of mostly medieval ballads, they've become the most important role models of the new generation of folk and ballad singers.
Carin Kjellman and Ulf Gruvberg released their first record Med rötter i medeltiden in 1974. Some year later they created the quartet Folk & Rackare together with Jørn Jensen and Trond Villa (from Norwegian cult band Folque), who brought the Norwegian drone sound into the group.
British folk rock bands like Fairport Convention and Pentangle became a big influence for the band, aswell as early music. Thanks to their creative arrangements, Folk & Rackare have reached a wide Swedish and international audience.
In the past couple of years they've appeared at Skagenfestivalen, Norrbostämman and Riksscenen in Oslo among others. And now you have the chance to hear them in Umeå!
